Last night’s City council’s forum .
A chance to meet the candidates and the chance for the candidates to be listeners.
There was a sense that those who came had specific questions that impacted a range of people from the poor and destitute , all the way to the students that couldn’t pay for rent even after they have received their degrees, can’t find work and or head over heels in debt.
While it started off slow candidate Monica Montgomery showed promise in answering the questions honestly and directly.
As for Antonio Martinez I didn’t get the sense he was as connected to the serious problems in the fourth district as it seemed.
A question was posed about homelessness and itsdifferent levels ,those who don’t have cars and those who live in like RVs who suffer from constant targeting and ticketing of vehicles, so much so that people who lose their RV soon don’t survive long ,the two speakers in the crowd alleged.
And they wanted to know if the candidates would first speak to them and work out an agreement where they won’t have to be humiliated and cast out because even if you don’t have money you are still a San Diegan.
Both of the male candidates said sure we’ll talk to anyone but only Monica Montgomery said she would have an open door policy.
